Meet SHFT
SHFT is the face of theSHFT, the private messaging app Willie built. He is an orange character with a chat bubble for a head, and he would like you to keep your conversations to yourself.
How SHFT came about
By September 2026, theSHFT had been on the App Store since March and was heading into its biggest update. Willie read the app and its website the way a new person would, and decided they sounded too technical. Private messaging is for everyone. theSHFT belonged in pop culture, friendly and fun to use, not written like a manual. It needed a face.
On September 29, 2026, Willie created SHFT. Every part of him says what the app is for. His head is a speech bubble, because theSHFT is for talking. He wears the app's colors, orange and teal. His signature pose is a finger to his lips, shhh, because what you say on theSHFT stays between you and the people you choose.
He took his name from the app. Then Willie turned SHFT's head into theSHFT's new app icon: the tuft on top, the bubble's tail at the bottom left.
The designer in Willie shows too. SHFT wears a black sleeveless zip hoodie with an orange zipper and chunky teal sneakers, and he has a pose for every moment, from waving hello to celebrating your firsts.
